The world is a stage for comedians. Their best material is usually derived from the inanities of daily life, but some of the comic geniuses, are really that; Geniuses. Although many funny guys have gone to college, there are only a handful who have gone on to earn their Master's Degrees. Here are 5 seriously smart and very funny comedians that have a Master's Degree.

1. Don McMillan Don McMillan may be best known for helping design the world's first 32 bit microprocessor, but this electrical engineer is more than just smart. He earned his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1982. This funny guy took home the $100,000 prize on star search in 1993 for his comedy and has been a professional comedian ever since. Known as the Power Point comedian, he says that electrical engineers are the "the funniest of all types of engineers".

2. Yakov Smirnoff "What a Country!" it's been for Yakov Naumovich Pokhis, better known as Yakov Smirnoff. He is a Ukrainian-born American comedian, and teacher who was famous in the 80's for his heavily accented routines about the difference in life under the Communist regime in the Soviet Union with life in the United States. Smirnoff received a Master's Degree in positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and has taught classes on the topic at Drury University and Missouri State University.

3. Jimmy Tingle Considered to be one of the top social and political humorists in America, Jimmy Tingle has had a long career in comedy. This stand up comic, writer, and actor was once a regular commentator on 60 minutes. But now this professional comedian adds Master's Degree holder to his resume. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Southeastern Massachusetts University, in 1977, and earned his Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School in May, 2010.

4. Ted Alexandro This regular on the late night talk show circuit is a New York native who attended Queens College and majored in music. He continued his schooling and later earned a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. Before he worked as a comic full time, he taught school by day, and honed his comedic chops at night. He has made appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The View, and Comedy Central.

5. Hari Kondabolu Hari Kondaboulu wasn't necessarily looking for a career in comedy, but his nighttime hobby led him from immigrant rights activist, to being discovered at an HBO Comedy festival. At the time his comedy career was taking off, he was accepted to the London School of Economics for a Human Rights master's degree program. He earned his masters degree, and returned to comedy and has made appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, HBO and Comedy Central.
