Master of Education in Secondary Education
The purpose of this program is to develop professional educators who will dedicate themselves to teaching and school renewal. Completion will prepare you for licensure in Hawaii and 44 other states in content areas that include computer science, English, English as a second language, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Master's Degree in Elementary Education
This is a new degree offered at HPU. A standards-based curriculum is offered, preparing you to receive your teaching license in Hawaii and 44 other states. Both full-time and part-time study options are available.

University of Hawaii at Hilo's Graduate Education Programs
UHH is a public university with a private college feel. This is accomplished by small class sizes, high faculty-to-student ratios, and hands-on learning opportunities. The mission of the Education Department is to develop the skills of teachers who are committed to equity, empowerment, and a gaining a critical understanding of our world.
Master of Education
This is a 30-credit hour program that fosters the professional growth and renewal of licensed teachers. The flexible program requires a minimum of three semesters and one summer to complete. Evening and weekend courses are offered for your convenience. The curriculum focuses on technology, assessment, research methodology, and advanced instructional strategies to facilitate instructional school-based leadership among graduates of the program.
