University of Idaho Graduate Studies

The oldest university in the state, the University of Idaho was established in 1889. It is a public university and is located in Moscow, Idaho. The college of education is ranked in the top 100 graduate education programs by US News and World Report. The school offers multiple master and doctoral level degrees in education.

Master of Arts in Teaching English

This degree is intended for practicing certified teachers and seeks to advance their knowledge of the subject of English and their strategies for teaching it effectively. The Grace Nixon English Institute summer sessions allow teachers to complete this degree while continuing to teach full time.

Master of Arts in Teaching Art

The 30 credit hour MAT - Art degree program is available online or on campus. A minimum of 6 credits must come from education courses and 20 from art classes. The program is recommended for advanced artists or practicing teachers.

Boise State University

Established in 1932 by the Episcopal Church, Boise State University became independent two years later. It is currently a public, research university on the bank of the Boise River near downtown.

Master of Education in Special Education

This program is designed to increase the effectiveness of special education teachers. The coursework is very similar to the Master of Arts in Special Education; however, instead of a thesis, students in the MEd program can choose between a comprehensive exam and a culminating project.
