Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne's Graduate Engineering Program
IPFW was founded in 1964. This is the main campus which covers 140 acres of land. The university is divided into ten schools and colleges, and the College of Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science is where a master's degree is available in engineering. About 12,000 students are enrolled each year. 9% of those attending are graduate students.
Master of Science in Engineering
When you work toward the completion of this program, you can choose one of four tracks to concentrate in. The choices are computer, electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering. Your selection will likely be based on what your undergraduate degree was in. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Classes you will take include Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer Laboratory, and Design of Machine Elements.

Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis's Graduate Engineering Programs
Established in 1969, this university is in partnership with other Indiana and Purdue Universities. IUPUI stretches over more than 500 acres and accommodates about 30,000 every year, 22% of which are graduate students.
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
There are four different tracks in this program, including solid mechanics, thermal science, biomedical engineering, and mechatronics. For each of these, 30 credit hours are required. You can also choose between a thesis or non-thesis option. Courses differ depending on which track you choose.
Master of Science in Engineering
This program places an emphasis on basic engineering sciences. The flexibility of the program allows students to choose courses in whatever engineering disciplines interest them, including mechanical engineering. The non-thesis program requires 30 credit hours and the thesis option requires 21 hours plus the thesis itself.
Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering
Admission is generally limited to students who have completed a master's degree in engineering. PhD students are expected to take 21 to 30 credits and complete their dissertation research. All research must be original.

University of Notre Dame's Graduate Engineering Programs
Notre Dame is a private Roman Catholic university. It was founded in 1842 and earned university status in 1844. Nearly 12,000 students attend Notre Dame, 24% of which are earning graduate degrees.
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
30 credits are required, which can be completed in three to four full-time semesters. Thesis or non-thesis options are available.
PhD in Electrical Engineering
Requirements to complete this program include three years in resident study, completion of candidacy exams, and a dissertation defense. 36 credits of graduate courses are required.
Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering
This is a coursework-only degree that combines business and engineering courses. Classes include Statistical Quality Methods, Technology & Business, and Innovation.
