University of Missouri College of Business
This is school is considered the premier business school in the state of Missouri. The school offers a number of undergraduate and graduate programs and also offers special programs for working professionals who cannot afford to drop out of the workforce and take classes full time. The school also offers a number of different internship opportunities design to give students the career preparation they need to excel in their respective fields of study.
Master of Accountancy:
This program is for students who would like to gain an advanced understanding of the issues, concepts, and challenges in today's accounting professions. While most students who are enrolled in this program already have undergraduate degrees in accountancy, there are opportunities for students who do not have a previous exposure to accounting. The program begins with core business classes in business law, finance, tax law, economics, and business ethics. Students are also encouraged to participate in off-campus internships. Students may also prepare for the Certified Public Accountant exam. Students should be aware, however, that each state has different prerequisites for taking this exam. Students who complete this program are ready for high level positions in the accounting field. Many go on to pursue PhD degrees in the field.
PhD of Accountancy:
This program is for students who have already completed master degrees in the field. The program is directed toward advanced scholarship and leadership in the accountancy field. Students learn about current issues in the accounting field. They study tax and business law, as well as business ethics and audit and fraud analysis. This degree enables students to teach accounting at the undergraduate and graduate level. Students who complete this program also enter executive positions in private corporations and enter positions in the government as well.
