The Graduate School at the University of Nevada is located in Reno. The school accommodates over 3,000 students. To meet the needs of its diverse scholars, the school offers over 75 fields of study.
Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies
This program is designed to train students to teach, research, develop, administer and evaluate programs delivered across the life spans of families and individuals. Students will work closely with a faculty member to focus on issues that affect individuals and families. Students can specialize in Early Childhood or Adolescent Development, Family Studies, Aging and Adult Development.
Master of Science in Public Health
This program will train students to identify and cope with a variety of current and future healthcare challenges. Students will learn and explore research and service activities that influence the health of the community.
Master of Science in Nursing/Public Health
This dual degree program allows nurses to gain knowledge in public health, education and community health. Nurses can either practice in public health by teaching future nurses and healthcare providers or use their public health knowledge and skills in advanced community nursing. Students will learn how to create and evaluate curriculum in addition to learning and teaching theories.
Master of Science in Social Work
This program will train students become leaders within in the field of Social Work.
Master of Science in Nutrition
Students who enroll in this program will gain advanced knowledge in nutritional biochemistry and physiology and gain the ability to apply this knowledge in clinical and epidemiological settings. Students will learn to treat, diagnose and prevent nutritional disorder and create a link between nutrition and behavior and biology. This will be done through coursework and research.
Master of Science in Speech Pathology
This two year program prepares students to work in schools, hospitals, clinics and rehabilitation center as speech language pathologists. Upon completion, students should have enough knowledge to be able pass the Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA.
Doctor of Medicine
The goal of this program is to produce caring, responsible, skilled and knowledgeable physicians. Students will be molded thorough classes, labs and clinical experience. Students will take courses such as biology, anatomy, behavioral sciences, pathology and pharmacology. They will also gain experience by working in a variety of clinical settings under supervision.
Doctor of Medicine/ Master of Public Health
This dual degree program combines the elements of the Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees. Students will take courses in basic sciences such as biology, anatomy, pathology, pharmacology and basic sciences with an emphasis on Public Health. They must also undergo clinical training.
