University at Albany - SUNY School of Criminal Justice This high honor is proved out in the accomplishments of SCJ's alumni and faculty. The graduate students at the SCJ benefit from the school's partnerships with New York City Police Department, New York State Police, and the Japanese National Police.
Ph.D. in Criminal Justice
Qualified graduate students will work with a faculty advisor to mold their PhD program to their personal specialized field of interest. Throughout the 60 credit program of study there are required comprehensive exams. There is a heavy emphasis on research and its applications to criminal justice practices and policies culminating in a dissertation and its defense.
Master of Arts in Criminal Justice
Graduate students pursuing an MA in Criminal Justice demonstrate the ability to affect the policies and practice of criminal justice through 30 credits of course work and a comprehensive exam. Students have the option to specialize in criminal justice information technology or to pursue joint MA/MSW degrees.

JJC offers the following master's programs: Criminal Justice, Forensic Computing, Forensic Mental Health Counseling, Forensic Psychology, Forensic Science, International Crime and Justice, Protection Management, and Public Administration and Public Administration - Inspector General Track. Some of these programs culminate in theses and some in comprehensive exams.
Ph.D. in Criminal Justice
Doctoral students will choose a specialization in criminological theory, forensic psychology, criminal justice policy or criminal law and will learn high-level research and analytical skills. The PhD program consists of 60 credits, three comprehensive exams, and a culminating dissertation. A forensic science program is available.

Niagara University Department of Criminal Justice Administration This Roman Catholic university follows the Vincentian tradition and is located in Lewiston, New York. The school offers a master's level criminal justice program that focuses on the administrative side of criminal justice with an international perspective.
Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration
This program is designed for evening students with no classes starting before 4 p.m. Management and administration techniques, analytical and communication skills, decision-making abilities and professional ethics are studied as they relate to the criminal justice field. The 33 credit program takes full time students one year and part time students two years, with no thesis required.
