Augustana College's Graduate Accounting Program

While AC was established in 1835, it did not move to its current location in Sioux Falls, South Dakota until 1918. Today, the campus covers about 100 acres of land. It is the largest private college in the state. Three divisions comprise the university's study options, namely the Humanities Departments, the Natural Sciences Departments, and the Social Sciences Departments. Many clubs and organizations are offered outside the classroom to provide students with extracurricular activities to keep them busy while completing their studies. About 1,750 students are enrolled and 3% of them are graduate students.

Master of Professional Accountancy

Once this program is complete, a student will have 150 credit hours in accounting, qualifying them to take the Uniform CPA exam for membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The 150 hours includes undergraduate study, as the fifth year of study brings students 30 credits beyond the bachelor's degree level.

The University of South Dakota's Graduate Accounting Program

USD is a public university that was founded in 1862. This makes it the state's oldest university. New facilities have been completed in the past few years, adding to the beauty and sophistication of the campus. As of the Fall 2009 semester, enrollment at the university was about 9,600 students. Almost a fourth of those attending are doing so to earn their graduate degrees. For the 18th year in a row, US News and World Report has named USD one of the "Best National Universities." USD has the largest graduate school in South Dakota, offering 62 graduate and professional programs to diligent graduate students.

This program provides you with specialized training in accounting and other related fields. This is imperative for anyone looking to take the CPA exam, which has an educational requirement of 150 credit hours in the field. Completion of this program satisfies this requirement. The primary objectives are to help you develop a judgmental capability in relation to the construction and use of accounting information and to assist in developing your professional aptitude. Classes you will take include Cost Accounting, Tax Planning & Practice, Advanced Accounting Theory, and Business Policy & Strategy.
