Master of Arts in School Counseling:

This program is for students who are interested in entering the school counseling profession. This program begins with a core education in the issues and theories dominant in today's school counseling fields. Students will learn about common issues among students and schools in America. Students will choose individual areas of concentration. Students will work closely with faculty members to complete master's theses. Students will participate in clinical work that will prepare them with hands on experience. Students who complete this program are prepared to counsel in a school setting. Students may also apply to PhD degree programs in education and counseling.

PhD in Counseling:

This program is for students who already have a background in counseling. This program is research based. Students choose individual areas of concentration. Students work closely with faculty advisors to complete PhD dissertations. Students will perform clinical research relevant to their fields of study. Students will learn and practice cutting-edge research methods. Students will also take courses in a number of fields outside of counseling or education, such as psychology, sociology, and communication. Students who complete this degree teach and research at top universities. They also serve in administrative positions or in the government.
